Every Sunday, at Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 9, right in the middle of Mitte, WoodCutter Berlin turns its 16 lanes into a real competitive arena with the Sunday Tournament. Unlike a regular session, this isn't just about having fun — it's about proving yourself against the others.

The format: head-to-head 1v1 duels with direct elimination, several matches running side by side across every lane, until only one thrower is left standing. The competition is capped at 16 spots, matching the number of lanes available — which means it's best to book early.

Every participant gets a free drink and a snack. The only condition to join: you must have already completed a full axe throwing session at WoodCutter, whether in Berlin or elsewhere. So the tournament isn't a first-timer's introduction — it's the natural next step after your first visit.

There are two ways to register: online via the Events page, or on the spot, subject to availability. The format always follows the same steps:

1. Confirmation that you've already completed a full session at WoodCutter

2. Registration and assignment of your lane

3. Head-to-head matches, direct elimination, several duels running at once

4. One thrower crowned champion at the end of the night

What sets Berlin apart is that the Sunday Tournament isn't a fixed format all year round. The venue regularly runs special editions, like the MAX AXE Tournament, which mixes trick shots and different axes for a change from the classic duel, as well as awards ceremonies closing out a full season of competition, with prizes for the top throwers.

Whether you're a Karl-Liebknecht-Straße regular or a first-time competitor trying your luck, every Sunday in Berlin has its own flavour.

The Sunday Tournament keeps the WoodCutter spirit alive: serious on the lane, relaxed off it. Between duels, you watch the other matches, comment on trick shots gone right or wrong, and enjoy the fact that the venue sits just steps from Alexanderplatz, one of Berlin's busiest hubs, easily reached by U-Bahn, S-Bahn or tram.

It's also an event that builds a real community over the seasons: regulars come back week after week, some earning their spot at the end-of-season awards ceremony, others discovering the format through a special edition like the MAX AXE Tournament.
